🎨Professional Landscape Painting Course - with elements of PLAIN AIR (Painting outside!)
About our course structure -
Develop your skills in landscape painting through this immersive six-week course designed for artists who want to create vibrant, realistic landscapes with confidence.
Throughout the course, you'll gain a solid understanding of colour theory and learn how to mix rich, natural-looking greens without relying on ready-made colours. We will explore the relationships between warm and cool tones, atmospheric perspective, and how colour changes with light.
You'll also learn how to interpret and paint a variety of lighting scenarios, including bright daylight, overcast conditions, and the warm, dramatic light of sunset. These lessons will help you create depth, mood, and realism in your paintings.
During Weeks 2 and 3, we'll head outdoors for plein air painting sessions in Sydney Park, where you'll observe and capture the landscape during the golden sunset hours. Working directly from nature will strengthen your observation skills and provide valuable reference material.
For the final three weeks, you'll return to the studio to create a large-format landscape painting. Using the sketches, colour studies, photographs, and notes gathered during the plein air sessions, you'll develop a finished artwork while receiving personalised guidance on composition, colour, technique, and finishing methods.
By the end of the course, you'll have completed a substantial landscape painting and gained practical techniques that will elevate your confidence in painting landscapes from both life and reference.
